American Heart Association’s 4th Annual Go Red For Women, Have A Heart Luncheon A Great Success

American Heart Association - 03-01-2005
March 1, 2005 – Long Island, NY - More than 575 people, mostly women, from all over Long Island, joined a “movement” on Wednesday, February 16th by attending the hugely successful American Heart Association Go Red For Women, Have A Heart Luncheon at The Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The movement was the American Heart Association Go Red For Women campaign, as everyone in attendance was urged to take charge of their cardiovascular health and share the life-altering and life-saving information of the day with women they know.
The color red was everywhere, and the event was a sell out. This year’s Go Red For Women, Have A Heart Luncheon honorees were Estelle Schlossberg, Founder, President & CEO of Estelle’s Dressy Dresses in Farmingdale and Frank Brocco, Vice President of Chicago Title Insurance Company of Long Island. Both were honored for their years of support and raising awareness for the American Heart Association on Long Island.
The Go Red For Women, Have A Heart Luncheon raised more than $250,000 for the American Heart Association and was supported by national sponsors, Macy’s Pfizer and local sponsors; Astoria Federal Savings, Estelle’s Dressy Dresses, HSBC Bank USA, N.A., Kos Pharmaceutical and The Lev Group at Smith Barney – Manhasset.

The luncheon was co-chaired by American Heart Association volunteers Charlotte Biblow, of Farrell Fritz PC and Paula Scappatura, President, Scappaura Real Estate. Wendy Wild, Night time DJ for the Luncheon media sponsor, WBLI 106.1 FM, served as the MC for the event, and the keynote health address was by physician, author, lecturer and specialist in women’s health, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Director of the Cardiovascular Institute New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia University. Perhaps the most moving and memorable moment of the event was when 6 Long Island women, all of them survivors, one-by-one shared their personal survivor stories with the audience.

The networking portion of this year’s luncheon was the most successful to date. During this time, attendees were able to view and bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets for the hundreds of fabulous prizes that were available.
