ESTELLES DRESSY DRESSES Has It's One Millionth Customer!!!

When Debbie Erdman walked through the doors of Estelle’s Dressy Dresses in Farmingdale Long Island recently, she had no idea that she would become part of the successful history of one of the largest retailers in the United States.

Erdman has the distinct honor of being the one millionth customer since Estelle’s Dressy Dresses opened its doors in 1992.

Erdman, a resident of Bohemia in Suffolk County Long Island was elated with her special status and thrilled to receive several new wardrobe items – free – courtesy of Estelle Rosenthal, founder and president of Estelle’s Dressy Dresses.

The 37,000 square foot operation, on Route 110 also is one of the largest female-operated businesses in the metropolitan area.

“It began as a modest venture,” Rosenthal recalls, “a single rack of clothes in rented space within a Farmingdale warehouse back in 1992.” Today Estelle’s occupies four and a half acres—bigger than a football field—with 117employees, 205 dressing rooms, and a 380-space parking lot. “It’s not your mother’s dress shop,” she says.
While other businesses were opening branches throughout the area Estelles stood fast and remained in one location. That decision paid off through the years as the number of customers who visit the store continues to grow. It is estimated that between 6,000 and 10,000 customers visit the Farmingdale, Long Island store each week.

While prom dresses, bridal gowns and wedding and party clothes are still its mainstay (in more styles, colors and sizes than any department or specialty store in the metropolitan region), it has added a huge selection of misses, junior, petites and plus-size clothing for women (including one-of-a-kind and designer labels) as well as men’s and children’s clothing, shoes and accessories.
And those prices! It is why our customers keep coming back again and again, explained Rosenthal.

“Everywhere you turn you see top quality, brand-name designer merchandise with the labels still attached, at up to 50 per cent off established retail prices,” says Rosenthal, scanning the rows upon rows of apparel that fill every section of the store. It attests to the buying power of the retailer who has become a fixture in its location on the busy Route 110 corridor.

While most of its customers come from the metropolitan area, Estelle’s Dressy Dresses also attracts a substantial number of out-of-state customers through its website.
